After he was born they had another son named Abel. Cain used to work the land to grow things while Abel took care of the animals. One day both Cain and Abel brought a sacrifice to God. A sacrifice is something that you treasure that you bring to God to show him you love Him. Cain brought God some of the things he had grown while Abel brought God his best lamb. God was pleased with Abel’s sacrifice, but he wasn’t happy with Cain’s sacrifice. God always wants His people to bring Him their best and Cain didn’t do this. This made Cain very angry and he killed his brother, Abel. When God asked Cain about his brother, he lied and said he didn’t know where his brother was. But remember, God knows everything, so HE already knew what had happened. Because he had sinned and killed his brother, Cain had to leave his parents and move somewhere else. It was also harder for him to grow things. Adam and Eve were sad because one of their sons had died and their other son had to leave. They had another son, Seth, and many other sons and daughters.
